The event was opened last night by the President of Thailand Bridge League, Chayawat Pisessith. This event, aside from being the Official Asia Pacific Championship held every year, is also a Zone VI selection to select 4 countries that will represent Zone VI at The World Youth Team Championship which will take place in 2020.
The match consisted of 4 categories, namely Junior U26 followed by 9 countries, Girls U26 followed by 8 teams from 6 countries because China and Chinese Taipei included 2 teams, Youngster U16 followed by 7 countries and Kids U16 followed by 21 teams from 4 countries where China sent 11 teams, hosted Thailand 8 teams and Hong Kong and Indonesia each one team.
Thus for Kids U16, China, Thailand, Hong Kong and Indonesia officially qualified as representatives of Zone VI at the 2020 World Youth Team Championship whose venue has not been determined.
