Source:  After some winks and a year-long engagement, the GIMAT and the Bridge celebrate, together with teachers and students, a love born like a love at first sight. The GIMAT (Giornate dell’Insegnante di Matematica) is an event (this is its third edition), in which the universities of Palermo and Catania invite the academic world and the universe of the schools, in all its orders and degrees, to exchange ideas and experiences. The bridge players passionate about mathematics did not miss the opportunity: they proposed a workshop dedicated to the secondary school (from first year) (without foreclosure for teachers of other interested sectors) in which the participants were involved to express their opinions / insights through the Kahoot, a free platform based on Gamification. (https://prezi.com/bvtyezna7e2g/che-cose-kahoot/) Pippo Borzì and Paola Caruso, submitted their idea in embryo to Prof. Flavia Mammana, member of the scientific committee and organizer, and received support and encouragement. Together they thought to propose a space where to impart the “zero lesson” of Bridge to anyone intrigued. So on October 19, 2018, after the workshop that involved the teachers, they received those who wanted to try to play, this went on for the whole day: Saturday 20. The greatest satisfaction for those who worked on the design and implementation of this “crazy” idea was to see entering hesitant faces and leaving smiles amused and curious. And to see so many! We chatted with teachers of primary school and childhood who have seen the potential for children. We sat next to middle school kids who have deduced and reasoned as experienced players. We were amazed by the rapidity of the intuitions of PhD students and university professors. We have encouraged a graduate who has expressed her intention to dedicate her master thesis to our game … And much more …
