Villas Boas’s 2 overcall helped his partner to find the only lead that defeats immediately the slam. Any other lead gives declarer time to pitch dummy’s diamond loser.

When Thoma asked for keycards and found that the trump queen was missing decided to stop at the game level. The lead was the same and declarer didnt have any problem for his needed eleven tricks.
