CBF YOUTH PROGRAMS

It is our belief that youth are critical to the survival and growth of bridge, and that it is very important to not only welcome young players but to also support them and make it easy for them to learn and appreciate the beauty of our game. To that end the CBF supports young Canadian players in various ways:
  1. CBF membership is waived for players up to 25 years of age
  2. Entry fee is waived for any team consisting entirely of players up to 25 years of age competing in flight B or C of the Canadian National Team Championship (CNTC)
  3. The Erin Berry memorial fund helps juniors up to 19 years of age with expenses incurred to attend bridge events
Furthermore, the CBF Junior Program provides mentoring and coaching to develop interested junior players, with the purpose of selecting teams to represent Canada in the bi-annual World Youth Team Championships, and occasionally the World University Bridge Championship. The teams representing Canada in these events are chosen by a selection committee from the players who are registered in the Junior Program. Players are selected based on their demonstrated commitment to learning and practice, as well as their bridge capabilities. Teams representing Canada at these world championships are fully subsidized by the CBF. If you are a junior player under the age of 25 and are interested in joining the CBF and/or the CBF Junior Program, please send your name, date of birth, contact information, and your ACBL number (if you are an ACBL member), to info@cbf.ca. Please note that you must be a resident of Canada to join the CBF Junior Program.
