Why? With 14 Michelin restaurants in the city, the world-famous chef Paul Bocuse (3 stars), the typical restaurants called bouchons, the wine, the pork specialties, the delicious chocolates. . .
One of the finest bridge features is team play. A bridge’s enjoyable delicatessen is when at one of the tables a pair avoids a slam that is not 100% cold and at the other table their team mates find the best defense to defeat that slam.

Villas Boas’s 2 overcall helped his partner to find the only lead that defeats immediately the slam. Any other lead gives declarer time to pitch dummy’s diamond loser.

When Thoma asked for keycards and found that the trump queen was missing decided to stop at the game level. The lead was the same and declarer didnt have any problem for his needed eleven tricks.
