Teams Champions Decided Cliff Wake Defeated
The second main event at Youth Week concluded yesterday with the all-Australian Spooner Team winning the Australian Youth Teams Championships. The New Zealand contingent were not far behind though, taking out the second and third places. After play, 4 top ex-youth experts formed the Cliff Wake Challengers team in a four-board playoff, scored at Board-a-match scoring. The Spooner team went on to take victory over the experts in that match as well! After dinner, a Pro-Am pairs was held, with most of the more experienced players partnering a less experienced partner. The North-South winners were Seb & Matt, and the East-West winners were Cameron & Bec. There are full scoresheets for all the events inside.2020 Australian Youth Teams Results
The Teams Round Robin finished yesterday with the Spooner Team (Andrew Spooner – Renee Cooper, Jamie Thompson – David Gue) winning by 5 VPs from Kiwi Song Team (Ryan Song – Brad Johnston, Andi Boughey – Matt Brown). Remarkably, the Song Team won all their matches in the Round Robin, including defeating the winners, but didn’t earn quite enough VPs to take out the top spot.Click on number to view the match result
