How long have you been playing bridge? For about eight years. Does anyone else in the Bridge family play? No. All bridge concepts and vocabulary are foreign to my family members, which I think is a shame. How did you get in touch with Bridge? It was offered as a leisure course at school. Who did you learn it from and where? Torsten Skibbe, as a motivated bridge, English and sports teacher, maintains a leisure program at the Fritzlar Ursuline School. I learned the basics in a beginner’s course and in the quasi-connected “BC Yarborough Fritzlar” I had good opportunities to improve my skills. Who is your favorite partner My main partners are and have been Hartmut Kondoch, Lauritz Streck and Leonard Vornkahl in the recent past. How long have you been a member of the squad? For about seven years. What are your hobbies besides Bridge? I like to listen to music, which I also like to dance to, visit festivals now and then and have also played Go (Asian board game) for a few months now. Do you also do another sport? I do some fitness to be physically more productive and to improve self-esteem – all without higher ambitions. Favorite Music / Favorite Books? Electronic music, especially EDM, quieter things with melody but also “soft” hardstyle. I also like a selection of mainstream tracks and newly created classics. As for bridge books, I’m a big fan of Woolsey’s “Matchpoints” and Love’s “Bridge Squeezes Complete”. As far as other books are concerned, I often read books that target specific areas of knowledge or skills. From time to time I come across novels that I like, such as the Harry Potter series, the Hunger Games, the Pope, etc., but reading such rich books is not on my agenda. What is your school / professional goal? I am currently studying physics, initially with the aim of an academic career. Time will bring further insights.

How I came to the Bridge: I learned Bridge at the tender age of 6 together with my older sister Saskia from our parents Jan and Jill. After a few months, however, Saskia’s interest waned and our little sister Fiona was less enthusiastic about the bridge, and unfortunately the bridge evenings in the family died out. My favorite partners: Philipp Pabst, my father Jan and Leo Vornkahl. How I came to the squad: At 12, I was invited to a squad training for the first time, since 2013 Philipp and I have been part of the u20 squad. Other hobbies: In addition to Bridge, I am also interested in table tennis and football, I played both in the club for a long time, and I am a passionate fan of SC Freiburg and NAC Breda. Favorite music: I don’t have a single favorite music, I actually listen to almost everything from Eminem to Beethoven. Favorite book: Six years by Harlan Coben Educational / professional goal: After passing my Abitur I will start studying administrative science in the Netherlands in September. Where my school or professional career takes me is still open.
