The next University Mind Sports Championships 2022 organised by FISU (International University Sports Federation www.fisamet) and the World Bridge Federation, will be organised at the University of Antwerp (Belgium) and hosted by FISU and the Belgian University Sports Federation from 10 —14 September 2022. Up to 3 University teams per country may enter and each student must hold the national passport for your country. Please note that the deadline for initial registration is 11th March 2022, so please don’t delay in informing your Universities of this Championship. FISU CHAMPIONSHIP MIND SPORTS

From 12 to 17 September 2022, Antwerp will host the 2022 FISU World University Championship Mind Sports Chess & Bridge. The University of Antwerp will manage the organization and is ready to continue its long-standing tradition in organizing mind sports events. We are honoured to welcome the best chess & bridge students from around the world!

Bridge

The 1st World University Bridge Championship took place in 2002 in Bruges, Belgium, and welcomed 65 players from 13 countries. The 2018 WUC Bridge took place in Xuzhou (China). Find more information about the history of Bridge within FISU here.

Antwerp is the economic capital of Belgium and the largest and most important city of Flanders, the Dutch speaking and most populated region of Belgium. UNIVERSITY OF ANTWERP

The University of Antwerp was founded in 2003 after the merger of three Antwerp universities. It is a young, dynamic and forward-thinking university. The University of Antwerp is characterized by its high standards in education, internationally competitive research and entrepreneurial approach. Over 21.000 students study at the university which is incorporated in the Antwerp University Association, with a total of more than 40.000 students. Antwerp and its university have a long-standing tradition with mind sports with former Rector Walter Decleir as chairman of the FISU CT Chess from 1996 to 2007 and Geert Magerman as chairman of the FISU CT Bridge from 2003 until today. Antwerp also hosted the FISU World University Championship Chess in 1992 and the University of Antwerp co-hosted the EUSA European University Bridge Championship in 2007.
